After several attempts to find professional and dedicated support to help our son deal with a 'common' condition nowadays, ADHD, we found the help we were looking for at NeuroImprove.
Always attentive, always understanding, always caring... in short, always professional! The improvements in our son are more than evident and manifest themselves daily in his behavior and attention.
Hearing him say that he didn't want to take Ritalin every day, and having to give it to him, was something that deeply hurt us and made us question if we were doing everything we should to help our son.
Although we have joined some institutions, attended some conferences and meetings on the subject of ADHD, we only found hope and help here at NeuroImprove. We arrived timidly, tired, and with many doubts about everything... Our João Miguel, 10 years old, was diagnosed with ADHD a few years ago, and at school, things only went better when he took medication. But giving him medication "killed me." I didn't want to hide my son; I wanted him to be able to learn, to evolve, to understand that he was capable, that he could do a page of exercises, or even just one, without throwing a tantrum.
During one of the many nights of research and despair, I found NeuroImprove. I won't say we didn't have doubts. We did. Many. On that late September day, we left with some hope but also with many apprehensions. João is impulsive; João can't (or can only with tantrums/threats from the teacher) write the summary at the same time as the other students... Will he ever be able to do it without medication? I loved that they didn't give me certainty that day. I loved that they explained to me that each case was unique but that they believed they could help our son. If it wasn't possible to eliminate the medication, at least to lower the dose.
Today is the last day of Neurofeedback. Our son hasn't been medicated since November 2018 (the end). He took the tests without medication. He scored excellent on everything (even if that's not the most important thing for us). What REALLY matters is that João did 10 pages of each test without tantrums, without saying "I don't know," "I can't"!!! Does he still get distracted a bit? Yes, it happens, but he is undoubtedly a happier child because he believes in himself!!!
We have no words to thank Dr. Maria and the entire NeuroImprove team for everything they were able to do for our son. There is nothing that can repay the fact that we see our son doing the work (because he has always had the ability to do so) without crying, without taking an eternity, without complaining, and with understandable handwriting.
